November Earthy Style Picks!!!

Every time you buy or wear vintage clothing instead of newly manufactured clothing you are recycling. That clothing is getting a second chance and being saved from the landfill every time you wear it. With an average of 11.8 million tons of clothing per year getting thrown away, you can rest easy knowing you won’t be making a 68 pound contribution to that number like the average American does.

For every new item of clothing that is made, there is a substantial carbon footprint left behind by its manufacturing. There's the fuel used to manufacture materials, fuel to transport materials to factories, fuel to power the factories machines, fuel to ship the finished product; it all adds up to a pretty large amount for something so small. The amount of energy needed to produce vintage clothing is zero. Plus, since most vintage retailers buy wholesale in bulk from rag houses , the cost to transport those items ends up being only a fraction of a cent.

I have had many styles in my last 33 years of life, some may I add that I am not that proud of I.E my midriff bearing days, nike cortez craz, and for a minute dabbling in the ever so popular homemade cut up bringing back flash dance minute in time...  Mmmm yeah!  To be clear although dabbling the one consistent thing that I have been is a thrift-er, I have always loved baggy and silly clothing that others throw away.  The styles always recycle back so I am super happy that from my mom I learned to buy things I like and not what is in, because soon enough it will be.  My Grandmother Marylin who I actually lived with for awhile always had the most cute style.  Looking at pictures of her when she was young to knowing her now I have always been in love how she can seriously lay down some serious style.  Be it her jewelery on her long lady fingers to her shoes, she has always been someone I thought was stylish.

Since now I have child bearing hips and an extremely larger bust then I used to have pre children, separates don't really work for me.  Sometimes I find cute blouses and skirts.  But for the most part I wear a dress just about every single day.  When people say gosh you are dressed up Mel, I say I wear a dress everyday and throwing on a dress takes a ton less time then matching clothing!  And they are far more comfy.  I don't know if it is because my thighs are bigger or what, but I can not stand wearing pants...  Like can not stand it.  The only time you will see me in pants is when I am doing yoga or if I am camping and steal my husbands jeans to be extra warm ;)  I am a vintage prairie looking gal and I like it, I would be surprised if my midriff ever saw sun again.  As well as my legs or arms... ;)  It is just not my style anymore, but I think us conservative dressers can do some damage in the cuteness department just the same ;)  This months earthy style picks in honor of my Grandmothers and my birthday month are more my style, the vintage style.  The items that are in this post are all vegan, fair trade, vintage, organic cotton, conflict free items.  Hope you like...  If you are interested in anything please message me so that I may hand off the link to you for where to purchase!!!!
