Pregnancy cravings are something that I for sure experience while pregnant. I am often envious of the gals that do not experience cravings, because it must be far easier to keep your self control in check. This is my third and final pregnancy and I have to say that although I was in my heart only wanting to gain 15-20lbs I still have a wicked love of food, so when momma is craving something. Momma gets it, the end! The lurking your 34 now not in your late 20's like with your first gets the better of me when I really want Mc Donald's french fries. But when I am wanting some Mexican food, or something like a large vegan sugary cinnamon roll it's going to happen folks. I am rather lucky that I usually just want fruit, salad, orange juice, and soups. But when I get that itch I just have to scratch.
My parents planned a trip recently to Maui for their anniversary and they asked me to drive them to the airport in Oakland. I obliged obviously do to the image of a Cinnaholic cinnamon roll popping in my head all gloriously with the ahhhhhhhhhhh sound track included. Cinnaholic for those that are not vegan is a delicious cinnamon roll shop in Berkley CA. Once that plan had been arranged I spent the following month or so extremely excited about this little jaunt to Oakland since my amazing reward for the annoying traffic would be a tasty sugary vegan treat.
My girls and I embarked on our pilgrimage to Berkley from Oakland Friday morning at about 10. We got to Berkley, did a little shopping at their fabulous game store and a couple little hippie shops for mommy and then we were headed to Cinnaholic, located literally right across the street from the Berkley University.
My girls were obviously excited, seeings how like their daddy their one true love in life is real sugar.... Not the mommy earthy coconut or date stuff they usually get. Daphne was the first one in acting like a crazed animal ready for that SUGAR....
I felt a tad less bad about feeding my children the goodness since it is Dairy & lactose-free, egg-free and cholesterol-free.
We ordered little buns for the girls, and I got my husband a caramel walnut roll and myself a macadamia nut pecan roll. The idea is that it is a vegan roll and you can pick your icing flavor and then your topping. The icing flavors vary from butterscotch to blackberry and everything in between and the toppings are either fresh fruits, nuts, or cookie bites... UMMMMM yummmmm.. They are somewhat pricey but worth every cent and if it is a once and awhile indulgence then let it be man.....
This is the butterscotch bananas foster that is happening the next time I get my butt to Berkley. Helllllo!!!!
They have a really cute outdoor table area so that you can people watch and even bring your poochie...
Beware, they have coffee and cold case drinks only.
The good news my out of town reader pals is that this adorable place will ship you the goodness if you dare so desire. 1/2 dozen starts at $25.00
The staff is friendly, the shop is clean and pretty with a tad of a throw back rockabilly style. It is a must see if you are a vegan and you are traveling through Berkley CA.
